Valeska Padovese

Dr Padovese is the leading clinician at the GU clinic in Malta. Her main clinical and research interest is skin and sexual health in migrants and other key populations. She took part in numerous EU funded projects addressing sexual health needs in vulnerable populations, and she collaborated with WHO on implementation and evaluation of rapid diagnostic tests for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). Dr Padovese is ILDS Special Advisor on migrants’ health, STIs and HIV, WHO Technical Advisor for Capacity Building on Health and Migration. She is Associated Editor of the British Journal of Dermatology for the Global health and Equity section,
and Associate Editor of the BMJ-STI journal. In 2023 Dr Padovese was the President of IUSTI Europe Congress in Malta. In the same year she co-founded an international NGO, Bridges2Health&Rights, operating in the broad areas of health and rights and at the intersections of disciplines such as medicine, law and criminology. Dr Padovese authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications; she is Editor of a volume by Springer titled “Intersections of Sexual Health, Migration and Sexualised Violence: A Public Health and Rights-based Approach”, currently on press.
